Pedestrians can suffer serious injuries when they are struck by motor vehicles. Sadly, such accidents can sometimes even have fatal results.
It has recently been reported that a Georgia woman has died from injuries that she suffered in a car vs. pedestrian accident.
The accident happened on January 30. Reportedly, that day, an 81-year-old woman from Brunswick, Georgia was crossing a street in Brunswick. According to authorities, the woman was using a crosswalk. Allegedly, a motor vehicle that was being driven by a 46-year-old man then struck the 81-year-old woman. Reportedly, this car vs. pedestrian accident is still in the process of being investigated.
The 81-year-old woman was taken to a hospital after this car vs. pedestrian accident. She reportedly suffered serious injuries in the accident. According to the article on WSAV's website which reported this story, the woman died of these injuries on Monday.
Pedestrians generally have little to protect them from physical impacts. Thus, car vs. pedestrian accidents can be very harmful to pedestrians. As the above-mentioned incident illustrates, car vs. pedestrian accidents can sometimes even result in a pedestrian's death.
Thus, it is very important for motor vehicle drivers in Georgia to do everything they reasonably can to prevent car vs. pedestrian accidents. This includes exercising proper care when driving in areas where pedestrians are present. It also includes obeying all applicable traffic laws when out on the roads. If motor vehicle drivers fail to do these things, they could be putting the safety of pedestrians at risk.
