Pedestrians can suffer serious injuries when they are struck by motor vehicles. Thus, car vs. pedestrian accidents can be a very harmful type of motor vehicle accident. This is one of the many reasons why it is very important for motor vehicle drivers to exercise appropriate care when driving in areas where pedestrians are present.
Earlier this month, a car vs. pedestrian accident occurred in Georgia which resulted in a man getting hurt.
The accident happened on January 21. Reportedly, that evening, a 43-year-old man was walking in the parking lot of a store in Monroe, Georgia. Allegedly, the 43-year-old man was then struck by a motor vehicle that was being driven by a 53-year-old man.
This car vs. pedestrian accident reportedly resulted in the 43-year-old man suffering injuries, including fractures and a concussion.
The 53-year-old man has been accused of having been under the influence at the time of this car vs. pedestrian accident. Authorities reportedly have brought charges of DUI, open container violation and serious injury by a motor vehicle against the 53-year-old man in connection to the accident.
As this incident illustrates, car vs. pedestrian accidents can result in pedestrians suffering injuries.
Thus, it is very important for motor vehicle drivers to do everything they reasonably can to prevent car vs. pedestrian accidents. This includes watching for pedestrians when driving. It also includes avoiding engaging in reckless conduct (such as driving while under the influence) when behind the wheel. If motorists fail to do these things, they could be putting pedestrians in harm's way.
