Pedestrians generally don't have much to protect them from physical impacts. Thus, pedestrians can suffer great harm when they are struck by motor vehicles. Tragically, car vs. pedestrian accidents can sometimes even result in a pedestrian suffering fatal injuries. This can be seen in a deadly car vs. pedestrian accident that happened earlier this week in Georgia.
The accident occurred in Sandy Springs, Georgia on Wednesday. Reportedly, that night, a 39-year-old transgender woman was crossing Hammond Drive at the road's intersection with Barfield Road. Allegedly, the transgender woman was then hit by a motor vehicle. According to the WXIA-TV article which reported this story, the driver of the motor vehicle stayed at the scene after this car vs. pedestrian accident occurred.
Reportedly, the transgender woman who was crossing the street suffered major injuries in this car vs. pedestrian accident. According to the WXIA-TV article mentioned above, the transgender woman died from these injuries after having been taken to a hospital.
As this incident demonstrates, car vs. pedestrian accidents can sometimes result in a pedestrian's death. Thus, car vs. pedestrian accidents can have truly devastating results.
Consequently, it is very important for motor vehicle drivers to take all reasonable steps to prevent car vs. pedestrian accidents. This includes obeying all applicable traffic laws, practicing responsible driving and avoiding engaging in reckless conduct when out on the roads. It also includes making sure to watch for pedestrians when driving.
One hopes that all motor vehicle drivers in Georgia will do what they can to help keep pedestrians safe.
